DAO

FOOD FOR SPECIAL MEDICAL USES

60 gastro-resistant mini-tablets

+3 years

For the dietary management of DAO (DiAmine Oxidase enzyme) deficiency or histamine intolerance.

Contains DiAmine Oxidase (DAO) enzyme

Taking a DAO tablet before each meal provides the enzyme DiAmine Oxidase (DAO) that complements the endogenous enzyme and, thus, increases the presence of DAO in the intestine and the metabolism of histamine to be eliminated. This process will decrease the build-up of histamine in the blood, which is the trigger for symptoms.

Histamine is metabolized in the small intestine, so this DAO tablets have a gastro-resistant coating that prevents the release of the enzyme in the stomach, releasing it in a delayed way in the small intestine.

Bulking agents: Microcrystalline cellulose and hydroxypropyl cellulose; Pig kidney protein extract with 7% DiAmine Oxidase (DAO); coating agent: ethylcellulose; potato starch; stabilizers: sodium alginate and magnesium stearate; medium chain triglycerides; coating agent: hydroxypropylmethylcellulose; stabilizers: oleic acid and stearic acid.

No adverse effects of the ingredients of DAO have been described at the recommended doses.

Important information:

DAO is not a substitute for a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle, nor does it serve as the sole source of food. The product should be used under medical or nutritional supervision who will recommend the dosage based on the symptoms.

Keep out of the reach of little kids.

In the dietary management of DAO deficiency it is advisable to reduce the intake of some foods due to their high content of histamine or other biogenic amines that saturate the DAO enzyme (especially dairy and citrus fruits due to their recurrent consumption), as well as avoiding the consumption of drugs alcoholic beverages due to the inhibitory effect of alcohol on the functional activity of the DAO enzyme, which prevents the metabolization and degradation of histamine.

Conservation and expiration date:

DAO contains DiAmine Oxidase (DAO), a thermolabile enzyme (sensitive to temperature), and it is advisable to keep it away from heat sources. If it is consumed according to the recommended daily dose, it does not require special conservation, but if it is exceptionally consumed sporadically and stored for a long time, it is advisable to keep it in the refrigerator.
